Chevrolet cars’ exclusive dealer in Qatar, Jaidah Automotive, along with General Motors (GM) held a seminar inviting Sheikh Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani, Undersecretary for Consumer Affairs and Mr. Yousuf Al Suwaidi, Director of Consumer Protection Department (CPD) and their team. The seminar was also attended by Al Mannai Automotive representatives, and was held at the W Hotel, Doha early this week.

The seminar titled Vehicle Coating and Thickness Variation featured a lecture by Mr. Rich Ing, Director of Paint & Polymers, General Motors, and Mr. Daniel Oden, MEO Regional Quality Manager, General Motors. The seminar focused on explaining paint thickness variation and the common misconception amongst customers in regards to cars being painted locally by the dealership, as well as Paint Quality Awards and Recognition for GM Vehicles.

The seminar marks the third lecture held by Jaidah Automotive and the CPD in an effort to assist CPD representatives on how to identify Paint and coating thickness specifications. Also the interactive lecture touched base on General Motors’ Transit Repair and Customer Disclosure Policy; which institutes that if a vehicle is damaged during transportation or storage, the vehicle is repaired by a GM authorized repair facility.

GM also mandates dealers to disclose any transit damage paint repair details to the customer prior to sale of the vehicle. These include repairs completed at the port or at the dealer.

The event was attended by Mr. Mohamed El Emadi, Consumer Protection Department Inspectors Supervisor, Mr. Khalid Samir, Director of Operations Jaidah Automotive, Mahmoud AL Shikri, General Sales Manager at Al Mannai Automotive as well as members of both Al Mannai and Jaidah Automotive Sales, Aftersales and CRM.

The CPD representatives shared some insight on paint repair damage reports that occur prior to the vehicle sale in the Qatari market. They also participated in an interactive session with Mr. Rich Ing and Kidong Bae.
