Chevrolet’s exclusive dealer in Qatar, Jaidah Automotive, along with General Motors (GM) held a seminar in partnership with the Consumer Protection Department aimed at guarding the public from potentially dangerous counterfeit vehicle parts. Mr. Yousuf Al Suwaidi, Director of Consumer Protection Department (CPD) and his team attended alongside Al Mannai Automotive representatives, and was held at the W Hotel in Doha.
The “Brand Protection and Anti-counterfeit” seminar featured a presentation by Mr. Scott Emmer, Manager -Global Brand Protection & Investigations for General Motors. His presentation focused on protecting consumers and the market from poor quality and counterfeit automotive parts. The seminar also looked at creating awareness of genuine brands, and provided an overview of frequently counterfeited parts found in the market and key identification features.
The seminar marks the second event held by Jaidah Automotive and the CPD in an effort to help CPD representatives better identify counterfeit parts -in order to protect customers’ health and welfare.
The event was attended by Mr. Youssof Al Suwaidi Director of Consumer Protection Department and Mr. Mohamed Jaidah, Jaidah Group Executive Director, and several executives from General Motors and Jaidah Group.

The discussion after the presentation was very interactive. The CPD inspector shared the department’s experience and efforts in protecting consumers from the t hazards they may face due to the use of counterfeit car spare parts.
